What is the NRTD?

The National Recommendations Tracking Database (NRTD) is an interactive web application designed to help States plan and track the realization of their human rights obligations and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Through improved digital information management, the Database supports National Mechanism for Implementation, Reporting and Follow-up (NMIRFs) in their important work of tracking the implementation of recommendations received from human rights mechanisms and reporting to these mechanisms.

All recommendations in one place. The Database comes with all recommendations from the UN human rights mechanism (TreatyBodies, Special Procedures and the Universal Periodic Review) for your country. You can also easily import recommendations from any other custom document, including those issued by regional mechanisms.

100% free of charge. The tool is hosted, developed and maintained by the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), using only freely available software.

Roll-out support from international experts. Through the Capacity Building Programme on the Human Rights Treaties, UN human rights offers a range of institutional capacity-building activities in conjunction with support for the setup of the application.

Customized to fit your needs. The Database has different customizable features designed to adapt to your country institutional set-ups and procedures.

Interface in your language. The Database offers a fully translated interface for English, French, Spanish, Arabic, Russian, and Portuguese. Support for additional interface languages can be set up as needed.
